Biographical or Historical Data
Storekeeper in Concord, Mass., dealing in groceries, liquor, tobacco and snuff, hardware, tools, dry goods, etc. Born in Winchendon, Mass., Oct. 24, 1787. Established himself in Concord, with Moses Prichard as partner, in the Green Store (on the site where St. Bernard's Church presently stands) around 1810. Burr and Prichard not only conducted business but also kept the post office in their store. Burr served on various town committees, was a director of the Middlesex Mutual Fire Insurance Company, belonged to the Social Circle in Concord, was involved in arranging the annual Middlesex Cattle Show,
Biographical or Historical Data
(cont.) and served as a representative to the Massachusetts General Court. He married Phila Waters in 1828. They had one son before Burr suffered financial loss, became ill, and travelled south to restore his health. He died at St. Mary's, Georgia, Apr. 2, 1831.
