Follows five ordinary Russians living in extraordinary times, from their sheltered Soviet childhood, to the collapse of the Soviet Union during their teenage years, to the constantly shifting political landscape of post-Soviet Russia. Together, these childhood classmates paint a complex picture of the dreams and disillusionments of those raised behind the Iron Curtain.

"Thirteen-year-old Arthur lives in the world's best country in the USSR and the world's best city of Brezhnev. Lives full life of a happy Soviet teenager: yawns at lessons and pioneer gatherings, yells at the guitar at the entrance, baldeet at discos, dreams of learning forbidden karate and really does not want to go to a bored pioneer camp. But it is in the pioneer camp that Arthur will fulfill his dream, meet the first love and the first mentor....
