When the body of a young Vietnamese woman is discovered alongside the interstate in Wyoming's Absaroka County, Sheriff Walt Longmire's only suspect is Virgil White Buffalo, a Crow Indian with a troubled past. But Longmire gets a lot more than he bargained for when a photograph turns up in the victim's purse connecting her murder to an investigation that Longmire tackled forty years earlier as a Marine Corps investigator in Vietnam.
